Panel - What are Home Information Pack Panels?
The
introduction of the Home HIP (Home Information Pack) brought about a
complete change in the way that home's are marketed in England and
Wales.
Under the new legislation introduced by the Government for home sellers
& buyers a new term was used known as the "HIP". The HIP
brought about some complex legislation in an effort to make home buying
and selling simpler, and more transparent. A code of practice has been

National
Panels
Under the terms of the
new laws for property sales as part of the home information pack,
it was deemed that a HIP cannot be compiled by an agent who has a
vested interest in the property being marketed. i.e. an Estate
Agent, as this may form a conflict of interest, therefore an
independent provider was required who could serve the need for
home sellers and Estate Agents requiring a home pack.
Thus, the advent of
the HIP Panel was established, these companies have staff who are property
professionals who deal directly with instructions from both agent,
and public alike.
Some Panels have
regional coverage, and others provide a National service for home
buyers & sellers. Many can provide ordering online, with
online tracking of your HIP.

Some
of these HIP Providers have "in-house" conveyancing
solicitors, where others "outsource" to specialist
services in the process of compiling the pack. Many offer
"branding" of the pack as per the clients requirements.
If your order a HIP through your local estate agent, you may well
see the estate agent's name on the Home Information Pack as part
of the branding process.
